CREATED IN CONFLICT
8 - 25 November
ADAM DOBBY
D Contemporary, British Expertise International and The D Group's associated in-house gallery, is pleased to invite you to the private view of Created in Conflict, a solo exhibition of photographic works by Adam Dobby, supported by the generous sponsorship of Mabey Bridge. Formerly a badged member of 22nd Special Air Service who put down the rifle and picked up the camera, Adam brings together haunting visual stories from the impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
At a time when we consume thousands of images daily that objectifying, distancing, and othering the aftermath of war, these pictures arrest the eye reporting on the effects of violence on people’s everyday lives caught up in the whirlwind of history. The pictures arrest the eye, reporting on the effects of violence on people’s everyday lives caught up in the whirlwind of history. They are documents not only of suffering, but of vigour, courage, and optimism.
Adam Dobby is a field producer, using the knowledge and skills he gained from his time in the military to enable journalists to cover war relatively safely. Having already worked with various media companies in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Haiti, Sri-Lanka, Libya, Syria, Gaza, Nigeria, and Ukraine in recent years, he has been back to the latter country several times since Russia invaded it.
A portion of all sales will go to support two charities: INARA that provides life-altering medical care for children from conflict areas who have catastrophic injuries or illnesses and are unable to access treatment due to war and The SAS Regimental Association, the only official organisation that represents the Special Air Service Regiment.
